Motivated and committed employees are known to be an important asset for an organization, since they contribute to achieving the goals of the organization. In the present Master thesis, the areas of motivation, commitment and productivity in general as well as key problems and challenges in these same areas in particular are researched and presented. The purpose of this Master thesis is to find out the effect of individual motivational and commitment factors on employee productivity at the Slovenian Environment Agency and compare these results with those found in the two chosen EU-countries (Czech Republic, Hungary). Moreover, the goal of the present Master thesis is twofold. Firstly, it was our objective to investigate the connection between motivational factors and commitment factors in the case of the Slovenian Environment Agency employees. Secondly, we wished to examine if motivation and commitment could have a positive impact on the productivity of these same employees. For the preparation of the theoretical part, a study was issued based on domestic and foreign technical literature, as well as scientific writings and sources. For the preparation of the research, a comparative method and a survey that was constructed with technical literature and sources were used. The survey measured motivational, commitment and productivity factors and was shaped based on the studied literature and sources. The results of the research have shown that there is no connection between motivational factors and commitment factors in the case of the Slovenian Environment Agency employees. It was also found that motivation has a statistically distinct influence on the employee productivity, while commitment does not. In the Czech Republic, however, there is a connection between motivational and commitment factors, while at the same time, there is no such connection in Hungary and Slovenia. It is recommended that the management ensures the possibility of further development of the employees, encourages education in the field of motivation, commitment, and productivity, while at the same time, contributes to greater awareness of the effect that motivation and commitment have on the employee productivity.
