Social support- how and where students can seek support and help in different situations is a crucial factor during the studies of each student . The goal of my thesis is to research and analyse the available social support for students, according to their place of residence(urban or rural). The main question is on whom they can rely in different situations in life as well as if, according to their opinion, they are acquainted with a satisfactory number of people who can offer them support. Various research papers demonstrate, that there is a difference in that regard, depending on, for example, - age, gender and – education. Same papers tend to point out – that social support, from the aspect of its availability, but mainly from the aspect of the quality of the mentioned support from one individual to another, differs. The latter is especially important for the quality of an individual 's life. We can also assume, that based on the different place of residence as a result of study obligations and on the free time, spent outside the place of residence (which applies in particular to students who come from the rural area), the sources of social support at least in some part tend to differ as well as the quality of the availability of different sources of social support. The data, necessary for the research of the thesis, was collected using an online survey tool EnKlik Anketa through a convenience sample of students. The collected data were subsequently analysed by the statistical program SPSS.
