Solar energy is one of the renewable energy sources. A solar power plant is a system that converts the energy of the sun’s rays into electricity. In the diploma thesis we will design, plan and manufacture a solar power plant of nominal alternating power of 13.8 kVA for self-supply of the household. We will first present the general concept of a grid-connected solar power plant with basic building blocks. Then we will talk about past and especially current regulations in force in the Republic of Slovenia, which directly relate to the production and consumption of electricity from renewable sources. The central part of the diploma thesis refers to the planning and installation of a small solar power plant "mFE Miklič 13.8 kVA". The determination of the size of the self-supply system (80% of the connected power of the facility) and the selection of all basic as well as safety components for optimal operation will be shown in more detail. For a two-month period of operation, we will present the results of measurements of electricity production and consumption and compare them with the planned ones.
