Composite materials are increasingly used in the modern world, which means that we need
to know how to join them to get the desired products. We know several different methods of
joining composites, which are presented in this final thesis. The first is adhesive bonding,
where the joint is created with the help of adhesive, here the surface preparation is very
important. The second is joining by welding, where the joint is created using heat and
pressure. The third is mechanical joining, where the joining is achieved by using fasteners
such as screws and rivets. The last method of joining is hybrid joining, where the joint is
created by a combination of adhesive bonding, welding and fasteners. We found that the
most used and researched method for joining composite materials is adhesive bonding, while
other methods are more suitable for specific materials and applications.
