Strain gauges are commonly used in mechanical engineering to measure the object's strain. A strain gauge exploits the influence of mechanical deformation on the electrical resistance of the sensing element. This thesis aims at designing a measuring system using low-price components, which allows the measurement of a mass load using strain gauges. The designed system is used to analyze the free vibration of the cantilever beam. The measuring system includes a microcontroller board Arduino UNO, which is responsible for serial communication with the computer. The measurement results are stored and processed using the Python programming language. The performance of the developed system is evaluated based on comparison with analytical and numerical results.
