Yugoslavia organized the Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984, four years after Tito's death, when frictions between nations began to increase. In addition, skiing and other winter sports in the common country were not developed elsewhere than in Slovenia, so Slovenians played an important role in the organization of the Olympic Games, as well as their performance. In the theoretical framework, I studied the cultural and historical background, i.e. the situation in Socialist Yugoslavia, then focused on the development of the Slovene nation, Slovene alpine culture and the main goal of the diploma was to find out how the olympics affected the construction of Slovene nation. So, my research question was: How did Slovenian alpine culture manifest itself at the Olympic Games in Sarajevo? Based on theoretical findings, I composed questions for my interlocutors, I used the method of oral history. My sample was the people who lived and co-created the Olympic Games, namely Jože Trobec, Janez Gorišek and Sebastjan Gorišek. The main finding of the diploma is that Slovenian alpine culture manifested itself in people. According to the interlocutors, I found out that the Slovenes were mainly responsible for the Olympic Games, and therefore I concluded that the Slovene alpine culture was mainly expressed through the people.
