Violence against older men is a new problem in the world that emerged after 1970. Violence against older men is under-recognized, under-perceived and under-reported, mainly due to the vulnerability of older men and social or cultural norms that support traditional male characteristics of stoicism and power. In addition to the fact that older men, just like women, are victims of violence, they also face additional problems such as: loss of power, authority and masculinity. In my diploma I precisely define the types of violence that older people experience. The research already done around the world and in Slovenia is mentioned, which I compare with my own qualitative analysis. The paper also mentions risk factors that increase the chances of elder abuse and preventive solutions, as well as recommendations that would make it easier for older men to seek help. In my research, I focus on older men who have identified themselves as victims of violence. I had in-depth interviews with them, where I learned that they do not share most of their problems with others, or in case of seeking help, they are overheard.
