This Master's thesis focuses on resolving conflicts in partnerships. Conflicts are inevitable, their successful resolving contributes to general improvement of all aspects of life for each of the partners and both of them as a couple. In the theoretical part, I introduced the impact of family of origin on individuals partnership, basic human needs, expressing emotions, satisfaction, communication, violence, partnership conflicts and their resolving. In the empirical part, I have presented the results of the qualitative research and interview data analysis. Especially I found out that the processes among parents and individuals are similar to those which take place in individuals partnerships. Our success rate in resolving conflicts in our partnerships depends on how successfully our parents were resolving their conflicts. However, this does not mean that we cannot improve our responses in partnership conflicts. In the first place it is important that we are aware of the issue, then we have to consciously develop adequate competences. Conflicts are not the reason for arguing, the reason for it lays in incompetence of resolving conflicts constructively. If we are aware of the benefits of constructive conflict resolving, we can confront and deal with conflicts easier, which contributes to the improvement of partnership quality.
