Laser welding of polymers has been making strong inroads in the industry, even though some of the influences for successful welding are not yet well known. The bachelor thesis covers the research of factors, additives, and properties that affect the transmission and absorption of laser light. It turned out that there are several influential quantities, which are very important, it is difficult to know what result to expect during welding and what will be the weld appearance. To this end, the scientific literature is reviewed and test cases are prepared to detect or demonstrate the effects of the impacts. It was found that the most important factors are the welding temperature, the time of compression or holding during welding, and the type of material. The hardest combination for laser welding is white polymers and the easiest is black polymers, because they have better absorption of laser light.
