In this graduation thesis I write about work approaches of professional workers in the detection of child sexual abuse in the units of the Center for social work Južna Primorska. Furthermore I also focus on what tools and knowledge professional workers would need to be able to do their job more competently and on their view on anatomical dolls as a diagnostic tool in detecting child sexual abuse. The theoretical part covers the topic of violence and neglect of children, defines the main features of child protection, and then focuses on the specifics of child sexual abuse and the very process of detecting this crime. I conclude the theoretical part with the topic of conversation with a child with experience of sexual abuse and the presentation of the main features of anatomical dolls. The empirical part presents the characteristics of the conducted qualitative research and the results obtained with the help of a partially standardized interview conducted with seven professional workers. The results showed that professional workers use different approaches of work in conversation with the child in the phase of detecting sexual abuse. Most of them also feel competent in doing their job, however, they would like more practical training that would help consolidate their competencies. Anatomical dolls are mainly valued as a good tool in detecting child sexual abuse, assuming that the professional is trained to use them.
