During the development process of a new product the designs encounter numerous changes, each one requiring prototype to be made, which needs to resemble the planned mass-produced products as much as possible. Thus, we strive to produce accurate and repeatable prototypes, which allow evaluation of the planned product and planning of the production processes needed for mass production. With regards to that we have within this final thesis designed and made a tool for producing prototypes of lamination stacks needed for a stator of an electric motor. We have also, with intention to ensure repeatability, checked the effects of laser cutting speed and power on the condition of cut edges of the lamellas, as laser cutting is used to produce them. The designed tool allows for accurate production of laminations stacks without major misalignment of the lamellas. However, the results of the tests intended to check the effects of laser cutting speed and power on cut edges showed only limited success at improving the quality of the edges.
