The waviness of veneer is defect, that reduces the quality and value of the veneer and in the production of sliced veneer requires an additional technological phase of flattening. Through the technological process of sliced veneer production the quality of input materials and the drying temperature affects on the waviness of veneer was studied. In the research, four logs of beech wood (Fagus sylvatica L.) with different characteristics were selected and the manufacture of veneers in various phases was monitored. It has been found that the waviness of sliced veneer with tangential textures in each log on average to an extent of 50 % were present. The most wavy veneer was cut from the cracked log (61 %) and least from the curved log (38 %). During the drying of the veneer drying temperature was varied and it was found that the veneer dried at a higher temperature (135 °C, 150 °C) was less wavy. The possibility of automated monitoring wavy veneer with 3D cameras was also studied and it was found that this method allows sorting according to the criterion of veneer waviness. The system can be integrated in the technological process
