We researched the influence of the proportion of the recycled particles on the mechanical properties of particle boards, thickness swelling and emission of formaldehyde. In laboratory conditions, we made particle boards with a 0 %, 33 %, 66 % and 100 % recycled material. Good flexural strength and modulus of elasticity was found in particle board from 33 % recycled material. The lowest flexural strength had the board made from 100 % recycled material, and the lowest modulus of elasticity had the board from 66 % recycled material. The best internal bond strength had the board from 100 % recycled material, while the board made of 0 % recycled material had the lowest. The minimum thickness swelling was found in the board from 66 % recycled material, the maximum thickness swelling was found in the board with 0 % recycled material. The smallest emission of formaldehyde was detected in the board from 33 % recycled material, the highest in the board from 0 % recycled material.
