Reader 's advisory is certainly an important part of reference activity in the public library, but it is often
overlooked in theory and in practice. Reading advisors in Oton Župančič Library want for service to
become more quality, used and reconized and for its implementation to be more simple and systematic.
The purpose of the master's thesis was attempt to create a good and efficient model for leisure reading
of adults in Oton Župančič Library, based on a review of the literature and collected data from my own
research. Data collection took place from June 10, 2019 to July 5, 2019 by forwarding 17 pre-written
interview questions via e-mail to 5 librarians working with adults in the literature department at the Oton
Župančič Library (4 female and 1 male). The results of the survey provide an attempt at a model that
combines three areas: education and professional development of employees, improvements to existing
services and integration into the local community. The outlook for the future is that this model would
be implemented as an example of good practice in other Slovenian public libraries and would make the
Reader 's advisory service more viable through it.
