The master thesis describes the development of a new engineering design of a thermal striker for high-voltage fuses. The thesis starts with the description of the fuse-links functioning and the importance of using a thermal striker in a high-voltage fuse. Furthermore, the thesis includes an analysis of the existing structure, an analysis of the competition products and a review of related patents. The technical requirements document was created that was carefully considered during development of the new generation of the striker. Design FMEA analysis was conducted to detect potential failure modes and their consequences. Morphological matrix was created by using methodology of design tools. Three design variants were set-up and evaluated by synthesising solutions. Several thermal striker prototypes of the selected solution were made and validated by systematic testing.
