Bachelor thesis Designing womenswear collection Nagumba involves the process of forming a ready-to-wear collection of clothing and handbags.
For several decades, women have been fighting with men for equality. In the second half of the 1970s, they occupied positions previously reserved exclusively for men. They also adapted their way of success and workplace as well as outfits. They took over the men's business with a turnaround. The wide shoulders remained, only skirt was added. They dressed for success. Therefore, the suit is still considered the main piece of clothing in business world. Throught the time designers have customized it with innovative and socially responsible ideas.
In the first phase of theoretical work, I explored the dressing from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, with an emphasis on business fashion and the early draperies of designer Donna Karan. The second segment is dedicated to upcycling as a modern sustainable approach.
The experimental work is a process of making ready-to-wear collection for the spring / summer. The clothes and handbags are the result of the experimental method. I was inspired by the silhouette of the eighties, and draping the fabric with elastic's and buttons. Buttons are the most recognizable parts of my design, due to collaboration with Dolejši fashionable buttons.
