Purpose: The purpose of diploma work is to introduce role of nurse pre and after pilonidal sinus, how our procedures are done on primary and secondary level of hospital care, introduce our review of literature to experts in field, which could contribute to improvement of nursing and would also offer patients better understanding of disease. Methods: In this our thesis we used the descriptive method with review of local and foreign scientific literature. The search was conducted using bibliographic databases of Medline, Science Direct, PubMED, COBIB.SI, CINAHL. We also conducted a manual search of the proceedings and articles published by the Clinical Section for Surgical Infections department. We set the search limitations of literature published between 2000 and 2019, another limitation was full text articles, peer-reviewed journal articles. Results: After pilonidal sinus surgery nursing care must prepare patient how to properly wrap and take care of the surgery wound, possible side effects of operation, how to take painkillers and how to avoid factors of risk so the condition doesn’t reoccur. Discussion and conclusion: Key element is understanding of the disease, early recognition of the disease in terms of symptoms. Patient must be given confidentiality, acceptance with proper approach
and health education.
