Diploma thesis Womenswear collection Rozalija represents my research on different ways of sustainable design in fashion.
In the theoretical part, I researched the different ways of sustainable design; I defined the concepts of reusability, upcycling, remaking, redesigning, and recycling. Further on, I presented designers and brands which I find inspiring and their way of solving the problem of the fast-growing mass production of the textile industry.
In the experimental part, I presented my collection named Rozalija. Collection approaches problems of the fast fashion industry and its' waste with a positive, youthful, colorful and playful perspective.
The realised collection based on upcycling is made by using textile waste from knitting studio Pislak and curtain salon Velana Living. The waste materials were transformed into new patterns and textures using traditional and modern techniques. The patterns and textures were inspired by the colorful Salvation Mountain, man-made hill by Leonard Knight in California desert, and silhouettes and clothing details of the 50s fashion.
