The thesis addresses the problem of improvements in the field of web annotation architectures and critically evaluates the standards that were set by the W3C organisation's Working Group. First, we prepared a review and comparison of currently available solutions of such implementations and selected the one that we found was the most technologically profound of all. This implementation was the basis for our upgrade, in which we made some initial improvements in the area of sorting annotations and annotation comments. Those improvements were based on our review of similar algorithms, which are used by the largest social networks.
In addition to sorting, we also examined the ways of ranking individual comments and options of annotation versioning. In this context, measurable metrics and the responsiveness of individual queries were monitored.
The result of the thesis is a prototype, which is an upgrade of one of the existing open source solutions in the field of web annotations.
