In this study author presented development of the forests in the area GGE Radovljica % levi breg Save. We researched an area of Grofija, where in February 1984 a Karavanke foehn caused a significant damage in forests in size of a 270 ha. The aim of assessment was to determine the success of a natural restoration and afforestation on damaged and undamaged areas. Forest structure data was obtained from 108 sample plots and from terain measurements. Results showed the differences in the next stands parameters: grown stock, tree structure and DBH structure between natural and afforestation stands on affected and unaffected areas, namely between inventories in years of 1978, which was before windthrow and in the years after windthrow (1988, 1998, 2008). Research findings suggest that affected stands should have been left to the natural regeneration. In areas where that wouldn't be successful, planting is suggested.
