The master’s thesis deals with the check of the characteristic load-bearing members which are part of the reinforced concrete building “Zdravstveni dom Ravne na Koroškem” with regard to persistent and transient design situations and accidental (fire) design situation. The building was designed in 1978 in accordance with the legislation in force at the time and therefore fire resistance of the load-bearing structure was not checked. All calculations in the master thesis are based on current Eurocode standards. The 500°C isotherm method is used to calculate the fire resistance of beams and slabs, and the method B is used to calculate the fire resistance of columns, which also takes into account the effects of second order theory. To calculate the time-dependent temperature field in the load-bearing elements software HEATKO (Hozjan, 2009) is used and the internal static quantities are calculated using the software SAP 2000 (Computers and Structures SAP2000 19.0.0, 2016). All verification of the load-bearing members for all analysed design situations are performed with MS Excel (MS Excel 2016, 2015). The results show that some load-bearing members do not meet the requirements for both persistent and transient design situations and fire design situation. Particularly critical are inter-storey slabs, while the analysed columns and beams below the slab are suitable.
