In the master thesis the processing of ceramics with the turning process has been researched. High quality of the surface where the workpiece edge radius plays the most important role must be ensured. It is a ceramic used as a safety component for electrical components and appliances, and the dominant process of machining in the industry so far remains grinding. In the master's thesis, with the help of the design of experiment method (DOE), we prepared a test execution plan, obtained empirical models that show the influence of individual input parameters on measured process responses and based on criteria determined optimal parameters that yield the desired process responses. We showed the influence of the input parameters; tool radius, feed rate and cutting speed; to process output: quality of the treated ceramic surface. The experiments were performed under two conditions, with and without emulsion. It has been found that optimization procedure can lead to significant improvement in surface quality and process stability.
