The main topic of the master’s thesis Foreign Language Learning with Mobile Applications is the use of mobile applications in autonomous learning of foreign languages. The theoretical part presents the definition of mobile learning, its development, learning theories related to mobile learning, the importance of media didactics, the characteristics and advantages as well the disadvantages of this kind of learning. It also presents mobile offers (podcasts and mobile applications) that can help individuals learn a foreign language. In the continuation follows the definition and characteristics of autonomous learning. An important part of the master's thesis is an overview of individual mobile applications, which defines types of tasks, language competences, level of knowledge, content and grammatical structure that can be found in each mobile application. The empirical part is based on the findings from a questionnaire and interviews with students. We were particularly interested in their attitude towards learning through mobile applications. In the conclusion we summarize the findings.
