Followed by a presentation of the group EnKnapGroup, choreographer Iztok Kovač and his choreographic characteristics. The variety of roles music can have in the world of contemporary dance are examined through fifteen choreographies created between the years 1993 and 2012 by Iztok Kovač. The choreographer and artistic director of the only permanent group for contemporary dance in Slovenia, EnKnapGroup. The analysis of the performances reveals that the role of music in contemporary dance cannot be uniquely defined, since music develops different functions in the performance. Throughout the performance these functions are mixed and become complementary to each other. Therefore, the relationship between music and dance is re-established with each performance separately.
