Abstract

Title:Development of the political borders of the modern polish state
Abstract:
During the 20. century areas of middle and eastern Europe were experiencing an intensive political transformation which resulted in a shift of the political borders. Modern polish state which was formed in the years following the first world war greatly differs from her successor created with the end of the second world war. Her political borders were transformed and have changed their functions. With a chronological rewiev of polish statehood we discovered that the development of its political borders was a result of wider social and political processes that have been influenced by diffrent external and internal factors. With comparison of the border lines durring diffrent periods of time we have detrmined the crucial events that caused their modification. Location of the polish state betwen Germany and Russia had an important influence on the development of polish political borders. Poland had to adapt to her geographical position. The role of polish public and politics on the course of her border lines was overshadowed by the influence of other countries which adapted Poland according to their own intrests. With the end of the socialist regime Poland got rid of prevailing foreign influences. This has also resulted in the change of shape and function of her political borders.
