This research paper deals with the theme of custodial supervision as in probational sentence and probation with custodial supervision. But since we have new laws that have been established from 17th of June 2017 and in effect from 4th of January 2018 my dissertation touches on those topics as well. Theoretical part represents and defines probation, custodial supervision and probation services and how Slovenian legislation is take care of in this area. Since these services are based on resocialization, reintegration, inclusion and holistic approach of the convict we can label this field as socially pedagogical. The bill that was proposed about probation services included that social pedagogues can also work as so called probation officers. Empirical part deals with research of custodial supervision. With half-structured interviews of convicts and their counsellors (professional workers at different centers of social justice in Podravska region) the research was studying the experience of custodial supervision. The main theme of the research is the professional workers’ view on the type of help they are offering, what they want to change, looking for similarities and differences between the current regulations of custodial supervision and probation services. The point of the research was to present custodial supervision, mainly under the patronage of centers for social justice with emphasis on the views of the users and professional workers and studying the new legislations of probation services. From these results we are able to deduce guidelines that can help us in the process of custodial supervision.
