I am presenting production, testing, and the field of application of rotary motion sensors which are used in a very wide range of applications. Nowadays, the most evolving field, where these sensors are used, is robotics. In the company RLS Merilna tehnika d.o.o., magnetic encoders are the most used sensors with respect to the underlying working principle. Magnetic encoders are based on the Hall effect. Ring encoders and OnAxis encoders are the most frequent by design in this company. I performed the measurements on the modules called RMB. Those modules are classified in the family of OnAxis encoders. Ten modules of RMB were measured by the deviation of sin and cos signals of a voltage from an ideal form of sin and cos signals depending on an angle of rotation. Next, a deviation of an angle depending on an angle of rotation was also measured. Because of their wide field of applications, their correct operation is basic for the security of devices which contain those motion sensors and also for people who use those devices. Measurements and testing of final products are basic for the perfect operation of motion sensors.
