The French and Slovene languages are full of particular expressions called idioms. It is impossible to translate them literally if we want to keep their meaning.
Culinary art is among the oldest arts since it is encouraged by man’s appetite. French cuisine in particular plays an important part in the development of this art since it has added many new things to it, including new dishes, techniques and culinary professions as well as introducing a new relationship to food and meals in general.
The idioms can have culinary constituents that have different meanings in French and Slovenian because the differences in tradition, society and culture are not negligible.
