The thesis explores the impact of infographics in the technology of augmented reality (AR) and the method of making an AR application. The decision to focus on this topic was made because of my personal interest in this topic during the course of studies and the development of such technologies in the recent period, and their use in many areas nowadays
Before the creation of the application its purpose was defined so the user will easily find adequate information and have a better user experience. Marking technology of the AR is used for making the application. The botanical field is selected for the underlying theme, where well-known Slovenian trees, linden and oak, are presented. The goal is that the forest walkers use their mobile devices and obtain information about the trees with the help of the application in an interactive way.
The thesis is divided into two parts. It begins with the theoretical part where the focus is on the theoretical interpretation of the meaning of infographics and the AR. Firstly, the definition, meaning, detailed description, brief history, fields of use, types and division of infographics are described. Secondly, the importance, historical development, operation, software & hardware needed for the development of an AR application are pointed out. The experimental part precisely describes all appropriate steps needed for the creation of infographic components and the development of the AR application: starting with the initial preparation of our workspace in the Unity software followed by the preparation of image targets using the platform Vuforia to the final development of the entire application in the program Xcode. This section also contains a short description of the Unity program. Finally, the conclusion summarizes the application’s final testing results and its effectiveness.
