Master thesis explores the problem of motivation for sustainable mobility in Ljubljana, specifically the use of public transport. Main cause are the uniformed users, who feel that the public transport doesn’t meet their needs. Firstly I researched the situation in different European cities. Then I focused on Ljubljana: its problems, current systems, vision for the future as well as user habits and problems. After that I dived deeper into motivation and began designing.
End result is a new Urbana app, which enables a complete and adaptable use of public transport with all information and functions in one place.
It includes standard functions, such as navigation, purchase and monitoring tickets, use of bike sharing BicikeLj. Simplified use empowers the user to manage the complex system, which to this day didn’t put his needs as a priority. Additional motivational encouragements are challenge and reward system and contacting LPP and MOL. They offer an additional reason to use public transport and a chance to co-create the city.
Purpose of the proposed solution is to upgrade the user experience of the public transport service with the goal to increase sustainable mobility.
