The aim of this thesis is uncovering developmental challenges of the newly planned Zagreb Pier in the Port of Rijeka. The goals of the thesis include pointing out opportunities, potentials and obstacles of the project, as well as presenting author's professional opinion regarding possible solutions of the current problems and successful future development. The research questions stands as follows – is the future development of the Zagreb Pier limited due to underdeveloped infrastructure, shaping and organisation of spatial capacities, multiple ownerships and lack of realisation of the supporting projects? The research utilises the methods of office work and field research (including questionnaire and interview). The final segments of the thesis include a SWOT analysis which clearly illustrates that the success of the Zagreb Pier development is influenced by a series of different factors.
