Aluminum with its alloys is used on many areas due to its good transformability and good mechanical properties. It is important especially because of its low density, good thoughness and corrosion resistance, good electrical and thermal conductivity.
The 8079 aluminum alloy contains 1 wt % Fe in 0.24 wt % Si. The alloy has high strength and good elongation. It is used to produce sheets and foils that are moisture resistant, air tight, wear resistant, keeping originality of packaged product. The foil is suitable for flexible packaging, such as packaging of pharmaceuticals, cigarettes and manufacturing of capacitors and insulating materials, etc.
At practical work of diploma work we prepared samples od Al99,7 alloy and aluminuim alloy 8079. Out of each alloy we made eight samples of cylindrical shape with a diameter of 5 mm and height 2 and 8 mm respectively, so they were optimally sized for further differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Six samples of each alloy we beforehand compressed or deform from its original height of 8 mm to 6, 4 and 2 mm and were after mechanically processed to suit DSC sample dimensions of diameter of 5 mm and height of 2 mm. The purpose of diploma work is to find out the effect of deformation level of aluminium alloys to course of DSC curves. By comparing the DSC curves of undeformed and deformed samples we analized effect of deformation level to characteristic temperatures at heating and cooling, to consumed and released enthalpies of phase transtormations and to the shape of the curves.
