In today's knowledge economy the most valuable part is represented by the knowledge workers. Due to job changes, a completely different approach is needed, to strengthen knowledge worker’s motivation and retention. The development of information technology has certainly contributed to the emergence of a dynamic and rapidly changing nature of work. IT workers belong to the group of i.e. knowledge workers. I.e. tacit knowledge that knowledge workers possess is the property of themselves, not of the organization. In case workers leave the organization, they take their knowledge with them. Therefore, their retention has key importance in knowledge society. The members of the generation Y are among the most successful and most numerous experts in the field of information technology, as they came into contact with technology very early in their childhood and grew up with it. The master's thesis focuses on the retention factors used by companies and based on quantitative research answers the question which of the analyzed factors in practice has the greatest impacts on the retention of IT experts in generation Y.
