This M.A. dissertation describes and presents the active engagement between pupils and local societies. These societies are very important for the development and promotion of our local community. The theoretical section includes the presentation of Moravče Municipality, the history of primary school Osnovna šola Jurija Vege Moravče, local societies in Moravče Municipality and its cultural heritage. The analysis of the documents, i.e. the analysis of the local newspaper »Novice iz Moravške doline«, includes the analysis of the co-operation of the pupils of Osnovna šola Jurija Vege Moravče with local societies within a period of 10 years.The project work with its specific characteristics is also included in the theoretical section.
Part of the theoretical work is dedicated to the analysis of lesson plans, where learning objectives connected with the introduction of local societies and the cultural heritage can be found. The empirical section is dedicated to the presentation of questionnaires, where questions about the degree of knowledge of and engagement with local societies of year 4 pupils of Podružnična šola Vrhpolje are assessed. The practical section includes the project work, where the pupils who had answered the questionnaires met with three local societies during their visit to the school in which the local societies introduced their work.
