Introduction: A person's ability to function depends on the spinal cord mobility, since performing daily activities also depends on the mobility range of individual spinal cord segments. As a complementary treatment method for improving the mobility due to pain in the lumbar region, elastic adhesive tapes are used ever more often. The application of elastic adhesive tapes on skin should activate mechanoreceptors in the skin which triggers certain physiological changes on the application site. The use of elastic adhesive tapes can cause the decline of the muscle tone and increase of the blood flow; as a result, the joint function improves, and due to elastic and adhesive characteristics of the tapes, the interstitial space is expanded, and the lymph flow is increased. Purpose: To establish the effect elastic adhesive tapes have on improving the spinal cord mobility in people with chronic non-specific low back pain. Method: Via remote access, we searched for the utilized literature in the following data collections: PUBMED, PEDro and, CINAHL. Key words for searching the data were: chronic non-specific pain, lower back, spinal cord mobility, elastic adhesive tapes. Results: Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, five studies were found. Four studies showed statistically significant difference in the experimental group, where results of measurements showed that mobility increased, pain decreased and disability improved, while no study showed statistically significant difference between the experimental and control group. Discussion and conclusion: Elastic adhesive tapes improve the mobility, and decrease the pain in the lower part of the back.
