This diploma thesis presents description of test procedures which are applicable for surgical luminaries according to the basic medical standard IEC/EN 60601-1:2006+A11:2011+A1:2013 and additional standard IEC/EN 60601-2-41:2010. Initially, I introduce basic needs for standardization and describe each standard one by one.
The description of a black room also known as photobiological laboratory is followed next. This part talks about why tests have to be performed at a specific environment and how people perceive light. Instruments and other accessories which are used for measurements are described. Then we continue with a description of an operation lamp and its properties.
The main part of this thesis are descriptions and explanations of tests which have been done in photobiological laboratory. Tests are performed in sequence according to the standard. From measuring central illuminance, light field diameter, shadow dilution, depth of illumination and other test procedures which are related to color temperature known as CRI index, UV light and color space. After photobiological test have been performed, the main focus was on electrical tests which are required by medical standard. Each test is explained and the reason why it was performed, for example input test, temperature test, dielectric strength test, mechanical tests and few others.
Finally possible improvements for more accurate measurements of illuminance are described.
