The aim of this diploma thesis is the design of the area efficient kitchen sink which observes various types of the kitchen layout and the main process points. The purpose of this research was to understand the user and to define his typical needs in the kitchen with the emphasis on the use of household wet area and food processing.
Using the analysis of the users` questionnaire results, the existing solutions (offered on the market) and research of the variety of the kitchen equipment, I designed the sink, which for getting more room for washing-up of bigger, unhandy dishes, uses the diagonal of the square and thus provides the smaller outer measures of the sink than otherwise would be needed for the convenient washing -up of such dishes.
The volume of the sink is enlarged by raising of the sink, which, because of the smaller water overflow around the sink, exploits the advantages of the deeper sinks and simultaneously keeps the bottom of the sink at an ergonomically more suitable height. I also added the supplementary parts which help with the organisation and better efficiency in the overall working process.
