The Slovenian Armed forces have been facing human resource problems for many years now, while its effective management is crucial for maintaining an appropriate level of readiness and consequently to carry out its main mission, national military defence. In order to ensure the fulfilment of all statutory tasks, the Slovenian Armed Forces must recruit and motivate young people to apply and choose this profession with a competitive job offer in the labor market. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the aim is to present the Slovenian Armed Forces as an employer in an employment crisis as well as current military personnel situation and define defence studies, as studies developed for its needs. What is the interest of defence students, enrolled in the academic year of 2017/2018, for employment in the Slovenian Armed Forces, which factors are influencing it and what is their perception of the human resource policy it is leading, will be analysed in the empirical part of the thesis, using the results of quantitative research.
