Abstract
Prvič so Turki Stično napadli leta 1471, samostan so oropali in požgali.

Title:Stična Abbey in the era of Turkish incursions
Abstract:
In the 15th and 16th century the Inner Austrian lands faced many robbery attacks by the Turkish troops. Carniola was one of the regions that were worst affected. Part of this was also the devastation of the property of the Cistercian monastery Stična, three times the monastery itself was burned down as well. In 1471 the Turks attacked Stična for the first time, the monastery was robbed and burned down. The attack happened again in 1475. Because of the attacks the monastery was surrounded by a wall and on the southern part a small anti-Turkish fortress was built. In 1528 or 1529 the Turks attacked the monastery the third time, plundered it and burned it down, but they failed in conquering the anti-Turkish fortress. In one of the attacks the monastery archive was also burned down, since today we do not have a copy of the Stična’s land registers dated before the 16th century. The monastery was facing a major economic crisis in the 15th and 16th century, which was further deepened by the Turkish incursions and high land taxes for protection against the Turks.
