In this Bachelor's thesis the classical fable in the tradition of Aesopus will be presented, whose characteristics will then be compared with Tellegen's animal stories. The ontology present in Tellegen's animal world will be examined by use of concrete examples and wtith the help of the theory of postmodernism in literature. In connection to this, the thesis will explore how postmodernism affects the identity in the relevant stories, as well as Tellegen's use of language to create word play, which in turn arouses epistemological doubt. The most common themes will be presented in the thematic overview and analyzed with regard to the ontology of Tellegen's mind world. As a consequence of Tellegen's unconventional philosophical stance, a discussion will be held on the suitability of Tellegen's animal stories on the grounds of his readership's age.
