The word mayor in Slovenia describes a directly elected local official whose primary competence is the execution of decisions of the municipal council, the management of the municipality's operations, and the representation of the municipality (Law on Local Self-Government, 2007, article 33). The purpose of the thesis is to explore through the time perspective – from 1998 to the local elections in 2014 – the participation of the political party Nova Slovenija-Christian democrats at the local level. In this, we analyze the number of proposed candidates for mayors by the political party of Nova Slovenia and the number of elected mayors in slovenian municipalities. It is extremely interesting to note that the number of elected mayors proposed by the NSi political party did not increase, but decreased. During this period, the number of mayors proposed by the NSi for local elections varies from the elections to elections.
