Individuals who perform their work conscientiously and with enthusiasm are distinguished by ideas, knowledge and skills. Employees are indisputably the foundation of every organisation; with their ideas, knowledge and skills they facilitate its development and ensure its successful operation. In order to be motivated and rewarded for their work, individuals must be provided with a positive working environment, especially since a third of their time is spent at work. Organisational climate is a way of representing the actual level of employee satisfaction, the constant monitoring of which enables the successful and productive functioning of the organisation. Organisational climate changes over time. Evidence of good climate includes loyalty among the employees, positive relationships between employees and customers and the actual success of the organisation itself.
In an organisation such as municipal administration, communication with customers is unavoidable. It is vital that the employees function as a homogenous team and that the communication among them is fluent. They are expected to conduct themselves professionally and correctly in all aspects of their work; at the same time, less and less attention is paid to ensuring their welfare. Every organisation has customer satisfaction as its paramount objective, yet those who are responsible for ensuring that satisfaction are often forgotten.
The aim of my diploma thesis is to elucidate the concept of organisational climate, as well as its importance. I chose to study organisational climate in the administration of the Municipality of Postojna; the research involved all the employees.
