This master thesis researches the reactions on the radio play Dreams by Günter Eich and its premier in the year 1951. It also includes the original comments of listeners from then and an attempt to explain, why it came to so many negative reactions or why the listeners felt such a shock. I analysed the radio play and tried to interpret and explain the “disputable” parts of the text. In the process were also considered the parallels with the German history in the Second World War. Further on is introduced Eich’s life and how his work influenced the people. For better understanding of the work, the German history and the society at that time, as the literary genre radio play as such are described.
