In this master’s thesis we studied band saw machines and already existing tooth profiles of saw blades for carpentry, processes of sharpening of those and parametrisation of tooth geometry of the blades. In the thesis we discuss an overview of the state of band saws in sawmilling and carpentry, selection and formation of saw blades, most commonly used standard and unique tooth profiles and their sharpening. We studied sharpening options on single-axis and two-axis controlled grinding machines. We parametrised geometry of profiles of saw blades for the purpose of fast production of control programs for CNC-grinding machines. We tested the solutions on a standard NS profile of teeth. We designed an algorithm necessary for definition of suitable movement of grinding discs while sharpening on CNC-machines.
