Master’s thesis is about work in the glass house, where production of a top quality special glass packaging is taking place. Due to increase in demand for smaller series of products, a higher change of tools is marked. The theoretical basis of lean production and the methods of Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) are described in the thesis. Furthermore, all the steps of SMED have been executed. Recording system, counting system and system of time measurement of changing tools are improved in the thesis. When working with the accessible data, the real-time value of changing tools duration and with this related accurate calculation of overall equipment efficiency factor were obtained. With the help of the SMED method, the time for changing tools has shortened. The new system for changing tools with gradual setup of individual sections is introduced in the thesis. This system enables to put more pieces of glass, which comply with customers’ requirements, in the cooling oven in the same time - frame. As a result of before mentioned, the new instructions for changing tools according to the new process were prepared, which resulted in significantly reduced machine setup time.
