This thesis deals with night photography. The theoretical part presents the history and development of night photography and describes the most influential night photographers. It also touches on the most important camera settings that influence the final image. The difficulties encountered in night photography are explained with additional solutions and advice. Light or the absence of it plays an important role in this respect. To this end, different types of lighting are described along with the effect each type gives to the final photograph. The examples are accompanied by my own photos. The experimental part covers photography equipment and the relevant software. Editing in Adobe Lightroom is explained in more detail. The result is 15 photographs taken in different night conditions. They are all visually analysed with added technical details. The purpose of this thesis is to become more acquainted with different techniques of night photography, learn how to tackle possible problems and use the acquired knowledge in practice.
