The thesis is focused on the specifics of discourse in lesbian novel (Nightwood (Djuna Barnes) and Piknik (Nataša Sukič)) and it is based on the discourse theory and works of Michael Foucault. With the help of a historical overview on the social visibility of lesbians, women and gays, the thesis analyses the political, cultural and economic climate, when lesbian novels Nightwood (Djuna Barnes) and Piknik (Nataša Sukuč) were created. It addresses the questions on the factors that influence the discourse, what characterizes it and about the position of lesbian discourse in literature and society.
