Since family businesses are inevitably linked with the succession, I have tried to understand the challenges and opportunities of succession of a brand with a heritage, through a case study and in-depth semi informed interviews. I have found that this is a lengthy process that needs to be planned in advance, potential successor must be raised in this spirit from the young age, must adopt family values and internalize the heritage of the corporate brand. Then they will be able to live, respect and nurture the heritage and the brand furthermore. Friction, problems, challenges can hardly be prevented, communication between siblings and nurturing family relationships is the key.
