This work discusses translation poetics of modernist poet Ezra Pound and tries to classificate his "Homage to Sextus Propertius" in the context of translation poetics. In this work I present basic characteristics of his creative work and key concepts, which are importatnt for understanding his different creative phases as imagism, vorticism and ideogrammic method. Through example of his translations collection Canzoni I will illustrate the specifics of his early translations. The main part of this work will discuss Pound's "Homage to Sextus Propertius". I will introduce the specifiics of Propetius work and inovations which Pound applied on his elegies. Pound used translated fragments of Propertius' work to create new poems, that is why he came in for criticism. Despite all the criticism, he aided to anew dialogue about the canonized literary work.
