The thesis is intended for teachers of science and technology in junior high school and high school. It is also intended for students of science and technology to plan technical and science days, or to plan different learning lessons with the support of information and communication technologies.
In the thesis is an overview of the sound content in the curricula of Science, Technology and Music in Primary and Secondary Education. The concepts that students learn about courses and cross-curricular connections are reviewed. A brief description of the perception of sound is also described, and consequently relations between tones, which are then arranged in certain tone systems. Differences in timbre are also shown. The basis of signal processing with Fourier analysis, the display of frequency spectra and the Fast Fourier transformation algorithm used by mobile applications are also discussed. Three mobile applications for spectral analysis of sound are described and compared, and their use on cases is described.
The diploma work leaves open possibilities for further research of experiments with mobile applications for spectral analysis of sound.
